DAEDALUS and HYDROHEAL successfully co-hosted the Joint Workshop for Early-Career Researchers in Sister Projects in Valencia, bringing together around 70 participants both onsite and online from the Horizon Europe projects HYDROHEAL, DAEDALUS, GreenNanoBone, INJECTHEAL, TEN4CARE, and NanoBeat. The initiative was organized within the framework of a European project cluster, a collaborative approach promoted by the European Commission to foster synergies between projects addressing similar scientific and technological challenges. By encouraging cooperation, knowledge sharing, and networking, project clusters help maximize the impact of European research and innovation activities while creating new opportunities for joint developments.
The workshop featured introductions from the project coordinators followed by a series of flash presentations delivered by PhD students, doctoral candidates, and postdoctoral researchers involved in the participating projects. In total, 22 early-career researchers presented their research topics, technical expertise, methodologies, and contributions, offering valuable insights into the latest developments in biomaterials and regenerative medicine research.
The event provided a unique opportunity for participants to connect with peers from sister projects, exchange methodologies and complementary skills, explore mobility opportunities such as secondments and research visits, learn more about MSCA Fellowships and other funding schemes, and discuss potential collaborations for joint publications and future Horizon Europe proposals. Most importantly, the workshop reinforced the importance of building a strong and lasting European research community beyond the lifetime of individual projects.
With its strong focus on supporting the next generation of scientists, the workshop laid the foundation for future collaboration, knowledge exchange, and long-term networking across the biomaterials research ecosystem. DAEDALUS is proud to be part of this growing community and looks forward to continuing its collaboration with sister projects to advance innovation and scientific excellence across Europe.
